SBI Insurance Group Co., Ltd. provides various insurance products in Japan. It operates through Non-life Insurance Business, Life Insurance Business, and Small-amount Short-term Insurance Business segments. The Non-life Insurance Business segment offers automobile, cancer, and fire insurance. The Life Insurance Business segment offers group credit life, group credit disability, term, disability, and whole life medical insurance. The Small-amount Short-term Insurance Business segment offers death, medical, pet, vehicle, and earthquake compensation insurance, as well as insurance for rental housing and tenants.

SBI has invested heavily into cryptocurrency, and this is the latest in the group to offer a perk related to it.

Details

Ripple, a cryptocurrency. In order to redeem it, you have to open an account at SBI VC Trade. I was able to open an account without much issue, but I do have permanent residency. In the signup page, foreigners are only asked if they have permanent residency or not, so I'm not sure having a different kind of visa would make it harder to open an account. The amount of Ripple you get is based on the price in late March.

Requirements

100 shares - 2,500yen worth of Ripple.

500 shares - 10,000yen worth of Ripple. If you hold the stock for two years or more, you will get 12,000 yen worth of Ripple. 

Comment

The Ripple is a nice bonus and supplements the dividend well, it takes a few months for it to show up in your account once you redeem it, but you could just sell it right away once it deposits or HODL and hope to make more profits. If you're not invested in cryptocurrency, this is a relatively low-risk way to try it out.  This perk also exists for SBI Global Asset Management.
